ATS tips
Pick an ATS-friendly layout
An ATS-friendly template keeps headings, dates, and bullets in a predictable order so applicant tracking software can read your file. It does not guarantee a job, but it helps your application reach a person when parsers are in use.
Use filters for tech, finance, or entry-level clusters, then export and validate. For roles you care about, run the keyword scanner and ATS checker on the same file.
Structure
Conventional headings and a clear reading order help parsers read your file.
Keywords
Mirror phrases from the job description naturally in bullets and skills.
Test export
Save a PDF or Word file and validate parsing before you submit.
- Use conventional section titles such as Experience, Education, and Skills.
- Keep tables, text boxes, and icon strips light so content stays in order.
- Mirror important phrases from the job description naturally.
- Export a test file and open it in the ATS checker when you change layout or font.
- Follow the employer’s file-type instructions first.
Read our how to write an ATS resume guide and what an ATS is. Run the keyword scanner and free ATS checker on your export before you submit.

Restrained typography and standard headings recruiters and parsers expect.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about templates, ATS, and pricing.
Browsing and opening layouts in the editor is part of the product flow. Some exports and premium templates are paid inside the app, and pricing is shown before you confirm. The ATS resume checker on our site is free for the score and feedback where offered (see the checker page for details).
ATS-labelled layouts use straightforward type and structure so parsers can read your sections. Creative layouts are labelled separately. Pick ATS-first files for automated job portals, and creative options when a human is the first reader.
Yes. Open the Cover Letters tab, choose a letter that fits your resume structure, and edit both inside NeuraCV so you are not juggling separate Word files.
Not automatically. Single-column layouts are often easier for parsers because content reads top to bottom in one stream. Two-column layouts can still parse well if headings stay conventional and sidebars do not hide text. Pick the structure that fits your story, then test your export in the ATS checker when in doubt.
Follow the employer’s instructions first. When the listing does not specify, use whichever format you can export cleanly from NeuraCV. Both can work with modern systems if fonts and structure stay simple.
Heavy graphics, icons, and dense tables can confuse some parsers or move text out of order. NeuraCV’s ATS-labelled templates keep decoration restrained so your roles and skills stay readable. Save flashy visuals for PDFs you send directly to people, not every automated portal.
Use ATS-labelled templates when you apply through job boards and applicant portals. Use creative templates when a person reviews your file first, such as referrals or portfolio reviews. You can duplicate a document in NeuraCV and keep both versions.
Choose a single-column or clearly ordered ATS-labelled layout with conservative typography, standard headings (Experience, Education, Skills), and space for metrics. Finance recruiters and parsers both favour scannable structure. Tailor keywords from each posting, then export and test in the free ATS resume checker if you are unsure.
Pick an ATS-labelled template with a dedicated skills block, concise role bullets, and room for tools and frameworks from the job description. Avoid dense tables or icon-heavy lines that parsers reorder. After editing, run the resume keyword scanner against the posting and the ATS checker on your PDF or DOCX.
